Program Format
The School of Business offers the MBA Program in both face-to-face and online formats. All courses are taught predominantly by St. Bonaventure faculty.
Students may enroll as part-time or full-time students. Full-time students are those registered for a minimum of 6 credits in any semester.
Weekday Format: Classes are held once a week in the late afternoon (typically 2:30 p.m. to 5:10 p.m.) or early evening (6 p.m. to 8:40 p.m.) predominantly at the University’s main campus. Students can take up to five courses per semester in a traditional semester-length format.
Students, with the appropriate academic background, may be able to complete degree requirements in about fifteen months. Most students (again depending on undergraduate preparation) complete degree requirements in approximately two years. Students who
- have an appropriate academic background,
- are in good academic standing, and
- are flexible with scheduling may be able to complete MBA degree requirements in one year.
Students are invited to discuss scheduling options with their graduate advisor.
Admission Requirements
1. A resume
2. Official transcripts of all previous college work
3. A completed bachelor's degree by the time your MBA studies begin
4. For International applicants: a score for the TOEFL or IELTS (English proficiency tests). International applicants should contact Online & International Student Services for additional requirements.
Optional:
In making admissions decisions, the School of Business Dean or MBA Director may consider professional work experience, managerial experience, professional certifications and GMAT or GRE scores, if applicable. For these purposes, professional work experience is defined as business-relevant experience that includes two or more years of significant leadership responsibility.
If you have a bachelor’s degree in business:
Students with a baccalaureate or graduate degree from an accredited institution of higher education with a minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale are granted full admission and exempt from the MBA Fundamentals.
If you do not have a business degree:
Applicants without an undergraduate degree in business who otherwise meet or exceed the 3.0 GPA requirement will be admitted contingent upon satisfactory completion of the MBA Fundamentals modules and the comprehensive proficiency assessment.
Under limited circumstances, and with approval from the School of Business Dean or MBA Director, students may enroll in selected 600-level courses while completing the assessment requirements. Eligible courses will be determined and assigned by the MBA Director.
Provisional Admission Due to GPA
Applicants with a cumulative GPA below 3.0 may apply for provisional admission to the MBA program. Provisional admission is subject to program approval.
GMAT & GRE Scores
You may request to be waived from the MBA Fundamentals if you are required to take the MBA Fundamentals and you have a: GMAT score of a 530 or higher, or GRE combined score of 305 or higher, with a minimum Quantitative score of 150.
MBA Fundamentals
To support student success, students may be recommended or required to complete preparatory coursework based on their academic background before registering for 600-level MBA courses.
MBA Fundamentals is a self-study course designed to strengthen foundational knowledge in Accounting, Finance, and Quantitative Methods and prepare students for MBA coursework. The course concludes with a comprehensive proficiency assessment.
The student cost for the MBA Fundamentals is $4,900 and is subject to change.
