Healthcare Management, BBA
The healthcare management major provides a foundation in business principles as applied to healthcare systems, focusing on policy, finance, operations, and healthcare delivery. It emphasizes the management of resources, adherence to industry standards, organizational effectiveness, and the coordination of services to ensure effective, efficient, and sustainable healthcare operations.
Upon successful completion of the Healthcare Management program at St. Bonaventure
University, graduates will be prepared to:
• Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of fundamental principles requisite for
professional success in the healthcare management profession. Functions, such as
communication, finance, law, ethics, health facility management, marketing, and
global issues that are related to the healthcare industry.
• Perform the duties of a practicing healthcare management professional; and
successfully engage as a professional in the healthcare industry.
• Analyze moral and ethical issues related to healthcare and develop a personal
philosophy regarding social responsibility and moral commitment in the healthcare
management setting and as a healthcare management professional.
• Apply critical thinking and reasoning skills as healthcare management professionals.
• Communicate, orally and in writing, as a healthcare management professional within
various healthcare settings.
• Demonstrate an appreciation of the diversity of a global society.
• Become familiar with the technology and skills that are necessary for effective
research.
• Attain professional experiences in the healthcare industry via internships.
• Acquire the tools necessary for lifelong learning.
The healthcare management curriculum emphasizes the School of Business program
learning goals and objectives. Students earning a BBA degree in healthcare management
at St. Bonaventure University will be prepared for careers in the healthcare industry
through gained knowledge in core competencies areas and practical experience.
Healthcare Management will incorporate the same aspects of Franciscan Values found in all
BBA programs throughout the School of Business. The integration of Franciscan Values is
