Do you want to work in the world of politics? If so, the Elections & Government pathway is for you! Students will learn about the world of politics from the viewpoint of the legislative and executive branches, the intricacies of campaigning, how to win an election, the roles media and parties play, and so much more. In addition, student will engage in hands on learning with opportunities to participate in model senate and interning with local and state political offices.

This concentration provides students with a strong foundation in economic and political development theory with an eye toward addressing social and economic inequality at the national and global level. It is designed for students who are interested in pursuing graduate studies and careers in international development and social justice. Do you want to become an attorney? If yes, the pre-law legal studies concentration is for you! This political science pathway explores the legal world nd prepares students for the next step on their journey to becoming an attorney; law school. Students will learn about court structures, judicial decision-making, the influence of law on society, the role lawyers play in the legal field and much more. In addition, students will engage in hands on learning while debating constitutional issues and engaging in moot court activities.

Students interested in the programs, services, regulations, and activities of government should consider the Public Policy concentration. Theses courses teach you about the origin, formation, impact, and evolution of a wide range of policies, including environmental policy, foreign policy, global economic policy, civil rights, and civil liberties. Students will also learn about how to analyze and evaluate public policies. Career opportunities include working in local, state, and federal government agencies, in advocacy organizations, and in business. This concentration also prepares students for graduate programs in public affairs, such as the Mastics in Public Administration and the Masters in Public Policy, as well as law school and business school.

This concentration explores international security questions such as terrorism and homeland security, interstate and intrastate wars, proliferation of nuclear weapons, and the international organizations and their role in the international system. This concentration prepares students for careers in security services, international organizations, and graduate studies.
